Reward Offered For Information Leading To 'Market Duo' Bandits

SANTA ANA (CBS) — The FBI offered a $10,000 reward Tuesday for information leading to the conviction of the so-called Market Duo bandits, who are suspected of robbing four bank branches inside Orange County grocery stores since October.

The two men are suspected of robbing three U.S. Bank branches and a Wells Fargo branch, according to authorities.

The most recent holdup was Dec. 10 at a U.S. Bank branch at 22831 Lake Forest Drive in Lake Forest. They also are suspected of robbing a Wells Fargo branch in a Stater Bros. grocery store at 1111 E. Imperial Highway in Placentia.

The other robberies attributed to the pair were Nov. 3 at a U.S. Bank branch at 1101 Pacific Coast Highway in Seal Beach and Oct. 25 at a U.S. Bank branch at 2101 W. Imperial Highway in La Habra.

Authorities said one of the suspects is about 5-foot-5 and has an average build, and the other is about 5-foot-8 and weighs about 200 pounds. They are both Latino and in their late 20s to early 30s.

In their holdups they wear baseball caps and sunglasses. In surveillance footage, one suspect is seen approaching the bank teller, while the other stands a short distance away with a hand in some type of bag.

"He stands a little bit away from the counter, has his hand in a bag...  The first guy says, 'look at my friend, look at my partner. Somebody's going to get hurt if you don't give us money,'" according to Jeff Brown of the FBI.

According to police, the duo has been seen fleeing the scenes in a gray or black four-door, short-bed Ford pickup truck.

Anyone with information was asked to call investigators at (714) 542-8825 or (310) 477-6565.
