Residents Displaced, 7 Cars Destroyed In Huntington Park Fire
HUNTINGTON PARK (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say residents of a Huntington Park apartment complex have been displaced following an early morning structure fire that destroyed seven cars.
The blaze in the 6000 block of Corona Avenue was first reported to authorities about 6 a.m., according to a written statement issued by Huntington Park police.
When authorities arrived on scene, they evacuated residents and those in nearby properties.
The statement said it took firefighters about 45 minutes to extinguish the fire.
No injuries were reported.
The statement said the Red Cross was assisting displaced families.
CBS2's Art Barron spoke to many of the affected residents.
Next-door neighbor Emmanuel Macias told Barron when he saw the flames the first thing he thought about was all the young children who live in the complex.
"I was so worried about their safety," Macias said. "It's not every day you see a huge two-story apartment building on fire."
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
