Report: Rockets To Amnesty Luis Scola

(CBS) -- The Houston Rockets are reportedly about to make a major move to make a run at Dwight Howard.

According to Yahoo! Sports, the Rockets will use their "Amnesty Clause" on Luis Scola, clearing $21 million over three years.

Scola averaged nearly 17 points and seven rebounds per game for the Rockets last season.

Using their amnesty on Scola, the Rockets will have the salary cap room to take on Howard and all the bad contracts the Magic want to send to Houston, allowing the Magic to completely rebuild.

According to multiple reports, if the Rockets fail to acquire Howard, they could be a facilitator in a three-way trade that would bring Andrew Bynum to Houston and Howard to the Lakers.
