Report: RG3 'Very Much' Wants To Play For Los Angeles Rams

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Robert Griffin III is reportedly interested in coming to Los Angeles to play for the Rams.

A source close to the free agent said that he "very much wants to play for the Rams", according to Vincent Bonsignore of the Daily News.

After being released by the Washington Redskins earlier in the week, RG3 would seemingly fit right in with the Rams as they have looked to upgrade the quarterback position this off-season.

So if he decided to sign with L.A.'s newest team, what would that mean for the franchise moving forward?

For one, it would make the quarterback battle much more competitive as head coach Jeff Fisher has Case Keenum and Nick Foles as the two guys on the roster who would be battling for the starting job as of Week One.

But the addition of Griffin could change everything.

What makes the report even more fascinating is the fact that none of these three quarterbacks have yet to prove themselves in the NFL, besides the few flash-in-the-pan moments you might have seen over the course of the past few seasons.

Besides the quarterback battle, what would benefit RG3 by coming to the Rams would be all of the young talent he would be surrounded by.  He would be standing behind by a much improved offensive line that ranked atop the charts of all NFL offensive line according to NFL.com, where as he was not so protected in Washington.

He would also have an abundance of young skilled play-makers such as reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Todd Gurley, wide receivers Tavon Austin and Kenny Britt, and versatile tight end Jared Cook.

And despite the Rams losing key defensive players Chris Long and James Laurinaitis, they still have an athletic group centered around dominant Aaron Donald and also recently converted linebacker Mark Barron.

If 26-year-old RG3 decides that he wants to revamp his career and join the Rams, the organization just might have found their quarterback of the future, but which RG3 would they be receiving?

Whether it's the former NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year with all the upside in the world, or it's the RG3 we have grown accustomed to seeing in the media, the Rams will have struck gold for at least their opening season with a QB that they can market in their first official season in Los Angeles.

Griffin was in New York on Friday visiting the New York Jets however.
