Report: Port Business Uptick Likely To Boost Payrolls
LONG BEACH (CBS) — An upbeat outlook for Southland businesses and international trade may mean a surge in hiring in the months ahead, according to one local economist.
KNX 1070's Ron Kilgore reports continued growth of both imports and exports at the Los Angeles and Long Beach ports will likely add more jobs in 2011.

Economist Nancy Sidhu of the L.A. Economic Development Corp. said the big rebound that began in 2010 will continue to boost hiring.
"A lot of the folks who had kept their jobs in 2009 were able to work full-time again, which was new for them," Sidhu said.
The report also shows the increasing role small businesses are playing in the export market, finding more customers for their product beyond domestic consumers.
Sidhu said that's good news for business owners and job-seekers.
"I think going forward more people will simply have to be hired, because the traffic is now getting back up to quite strong levels," the economist said.
