Report: Odom Leaves Dallas 4 Months After Trade From LA Lakers
DALLAS (AP) — A person familiar with the decision says Lamar Odom will not play the rest of the season with the Dallas Mavericks.
Odom will not be waived though he will not play anymore this season for the defending NBA champions, according to the person who spoke Monday on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press because an official announcement had not been made by the team.
Odom told ESPN.com that he and the Mavericks decided it was "in the best interest of both parties for me to step away from the team."
Odom, the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year last season with the Los Angeles Lakers, averaged 6.6 points, 4.2 rebound and 20.5 minutes in his 50 games for Dallas. All were career lows.
