Report: Nintendo President Iwata Satoru Dies At 55

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  —  Variety is reporting that Nintendo President Iwata Satoru has died.

Satoru was 55.

The showbiz newspaper reported that Satoru was battling cancer and died Saturday.

The company reportedly issued a statement that said Satoru succumbed to a growth on a bile duct.

The innovative and highly-respected Satoru joined the company in the 1980s as a programming whiz.

By the year 2000, Satoru was a board member.

He became president 13 years ago.

At the helm, he saw the launch of some of Nintendo's best products including the Wii.
