Bynum To Sit Out Game Against Nets With Sprained Ankle And "Numerous Infractions'
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Andrew Bynum is sitting out of the Los Angeles Lakers' game against the New Jersey Nets to rest his sprained left ankle.
Lakers coach Mike Brown had little else to say about his All-Star center Tuesday night. He refused to confirm ESPN's report Bynum was fined by the team for an accumulation of behavioral transgressions.
Brown says he has no problems with Bynum, who is averaging career bests of 17.9 points and 11.9 rebounds. Brown benched Bynum for the final nine minutes of a victory last week at Golden State.
Bynum was hurt when he landed awkwardly while grabbing a rebound Sunday. The 7-footer has been plagued by knee problems throughout his career, but has been almost completely healthy this season.
