Report: ER Patient Not Assigned Doctor For 2 Days
LOS ANGELES (AP) — An emergency room patient went two days without being assigned a doctor at a Los Angeles hospital.
The Los Angeles Times on Friday cites a memo by Olive View-UCLA Medical Center's patient safety officer. The Oct. 12 memo says a paperwork mix-up meant the patient received medical care but it wasn't documented.
It doesn't identify the patient's condition.
The memo says the patient was admitted to a county teaching hospital in Sylmar by a medical student who incorrectly filled out the paperwork. It listed a doctor's name but the physician wasn't called for two days.
The memo says it might not be an isolated incident.
State and county health officials are investigating.
