Dodgers Trying To Trade Ethier To Bring In CF Michael Bourn?
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) - The Los Angeles Dodgers are in search of a leadoff hitter and of course they have their noses on the best available, center-fielder Michael Bourn of the Atlanta Braves.
The only way they'll sign the leagues top center-fielder is if they find a ball club to trade away Andre Ethier's 5-year, $85 million contract.
The Dodgers already have three outfielders who have a payroll of a combined $54.6 million in 2013, so clearly money isn't an issue.
The Dodgers said they weren't interested in trading the 30-year-old lefty early December, but according to CBS Sports' Danny Knobler, "sources familiar with the discussions say the Dodgers have at least talked about the idea of trading Andre Ethier and signing Bourn to replace him."
If the Dodgers do acquire Bourn, Matt Kemp will shift over to right-field and he will take over center field.
Ethier hit a low .222 batting average against lefties in 2012 and an OBP of .287.
