Report: American Apparel Founder Dov Charney Forced Out Of Board Of Directors

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The controversial founder of American Apparel is being forced out of the company's board of directors.

The L.A. Times reports the board voted Wednesday night to replace Dov Charney as chairman of the downtown L.A.-based company, saying the decision "grew out of an ongoing investigation into alleged misconduct."

According to the report, Charney will be fired as president and chairman in 30 days under the terms of his contract.

Charney, a Montreal native, started the company 23 years ago.

In recent years, he's been accused of sexual harassment and employee abuse.
