Relatives Of 2 Slain USC Students Fly In From China To Meet With Investigators
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The parents of the two USC students who were fatally shot near campus have flown in from China to meet with school officials and investigators, authorities reported.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that the parents and relatives of both victims met with detectives, who briefed them on the investigations. Sources have told CBS2 / KCAL9 that the schools has put family members up at the Bonaventure Hotel in Downtown L.A.
Students said they continue to question their safety.
The International Students Association held a meeting exclusively for students Monday night to voice their concerns after the two graduate students, both Chinese nationals, were shot to death near campus.
Electronic engineering students Ying Wu and Ming Qu, both 23 years old, were shot at approximately 1 a.m. last Wednesday while Qu was dropping Wu off at her off-campus home. The shooting occurred on Raymond Avenue in the West Adams area.
A guman in a dark vehicle shot the pair in Qu's car while they sat double parked, talking in the rain.
The victims' families reportedly visited the crime scene Sunday night.
Detectives say a motive is still unclear.
USC has offered a $125,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
A memorial will be held for Wu and Qu Wednesday.
