Reds Pitcher Arrested On Charges Of Shoplifting T-Shirts
CINCINNATI (AP) -- Reds pitcher Mike Leake was arrested on a shoplifting charge Monday afternoon, accused of trying to steal shirts from a downtown department store.
Police reports say Leake removed the tags from several shirts at a Macy's store and tried to leave without paying for them.
He was stopped by security personnel.
The shirts cost $59.88. Leake was taken to the Hamilton County Justice Center following the arrest.
The first-degree misdemeanor charge carries a maximum sentence of 180 days in jail.
The Reds were trying to get details of the arrest and had no immediate comment. Leake wasn't scheduled to pitch Monday night against Pittsburgh.
