Redlands Police Arrest Suspect In 2 Bank Robberies
REDLANDS (AP) — Authorities say a 46-year-old man suspected of robbing two banks in San Bernardino County is under arrest.
Redlands police announced Saturday that William Mark Hope was detained without incident at a motel in Highland Friday evening.
Investigators say Hope entered the Chase Bank branch in Redlands on Tuesday, handed the teller a note indicating he had a gun and demanded money. No gun was seen. He then escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Police identified Hope based on forensic evidence found at the scene of the robbery.
Additional evidence was located at the motel room. Cash from the robbery was not recovered.
Hope was arrested for robbery and parole violation.
Police say Hope is also the main suspect in a May 3 robbery of a Chase branch in Upland.
