Red Flag Warning Extended Through 10 AM Friday

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The National Weather Service has extended a red flag warning through 10 a.m. Friday.

The warning, which signals high fire danger, was originally set to expire at 6 p.m. Thursday across much of the LA area.

The warning remains in effect for the Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area, Angeles National Forest, Los Angeles County mountains, Santa Clarita and San Fernando valleys, beach communities, the Westside, the Hollywood Hills, downtown and across the metropolitan area.

"Moderate Santa Ana winds will continue across the typical wind-prone locations of Los Angeles and Ventura counties through this evening, gradually diminishing overnight into Friday,'' according to the NWS.

Wind guts between 35 and 45 mph can be expected for the mountains, while gusts of up to 35 mph may be felt along the coast and in the valleys.

Winds are expected to die down by the afternoon, however, warm and dry conditions will remain, the NWS said.
