Reagan Foundation To Buy 140 Acres Near Presidential Library
SIMI VALLEY (AP) — The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation is buying a 140-acre greenbelt in Southern California to preserve the stunning views near its library and museum.
Melissa Giller, a foundation spokeswoman, tells the Ventura County Star that the organization is set to close escrow in July.
The newspaper reports the asking price was $7.2 million by Cornerstone Community Church, which had planned to build a new campus at the site.
Giller said the foundation purchased the land to preserve the tranquility of the library's views from its Air Force One Pavilion.
The foundation has embarked on a "Save Our View" fundraising campaign to help with the purchase of the property.
