Rams Cut Quarterback Nick Foles
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Nick Foles was released by the Los Angeles Rams on Wednesday after they were unable to find a suitable trade partner for the veteran quarterback.
The disgruntled quarterback requested a release in order to avoid waivers so he can enter the free-agent market.
Foles' release doesn't come as a shock, as he skipped voluntary offseason workouts and had expressed doubts about his future with the Rams after the team drafted quarterback Jared Goff with the No. 1 overall selection.
The Rams traded for Foles and also a second round pick in the NFL Draft in exchange for Sam Bradford.
He signed a two-year, $24.5 million extension prior to the start of the season, and started the majority of the season until he was benched for Case Keenum.
While holding the starting QB position, Foles threw for 2,052 yards, seven touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.
