Rains Are Over, But Malibu Landslide Still Threatens Homes

MALIBU (CBS) — A landslide behind a row of homes overlooking Malibu left one multi-unit home yellow-tagged and several others in jeopardy in the wake of a series of storms.

Residents said the hillside along the 25000 block of Malibu Road near Corral Canyon has been moving for some time, but a big piece of earth recently collapsed.

A multi-family home at 25157 Malibu Road was yellow tagged, which means the garage cannot be occupied, according to Craig George of Malibu's Environmental and Building Safety Division.

"It has been creeping for a while but it moved significantly on Friday," George said.

A geologist for the homeowner and one geologist for the city are working at ways to solve the problem.
