Quarry Fire Sends Plume Of Smoke Above Irwindale
IRWINDALE (CBS) — A fire that burned in equipment at a rock quarry sent a plume of black smoke into that sky above Irwindale Monday afternoon.
About 35 Los Angeles County Fire Department firefighters responded to the fire, which burned in a four-story tower at the quarry located at 1245 E. Arrow Highway, just west of the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in Irwindale.
The fire appeared to be centered on a conveyor belt, according to Stu Mundel reporting from Sky2.
Reports of the fire came in to official at 5:04 p.m., a dispatcher said.
