Punchless Dodgers Fall To Nationals 7-2

(CBS) -- Hiroki Kuroda (6-12) pitched into the seventh inning, allowing three runs and seven hits, but it wasn't enough as the Washington Nationals beat the Dodgers 7-2 on Friday night in front of a paid attendance of just under 40,000 at Dodger Stadium.

Los Angeles came into the game having scored the fewest runs in baseball during the month of July,  but returning home made no difference.

The Dodgers two runs came off an error by Ian Desmond in the fourth inning that cut the Nationals lead to 3-2 and they would get no closer.

John Lannan (7-6) did it all for Washington, including slugging his first career homer in 195 at-bats  and pitching 6 1/3 strong innings.

Washington broke things open in the ninth inning when Jerry Hairston Jr. hit a grand slam off Matt Guerrier.

With the loss, the Dodgers remain 13.5 games behind the Giants in the NL West.

Notes:

-- Kenley Jansen stuck out all four Nationals he faced and has allowed just three hits since coming off the disabled list.

-- Rod Barajas is hitless in his last 23 at-bats.
