Public's Help Sought In Identifying Norwalk-Area 'Cigarette Bandits'
NORWALK (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles County Sheriff's detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying two burglary suspects that have been dubbed the "Cigarette Bandits."
Between Nov. 14, 2012 and Jan. 6 of this year, there have been several incidents where two suspects have been captured on surveillance video stealing large quantities of cigarettes from local businesses, authorities said.
The crimes have all occurred at gas stations, pharmacies and liquor stores in the Norwalk area.
The suspects have been taped "breaking the front glass door of the businesses and walking behind the counter and stealing several hundred cartons of cigarettes," Det. Patrick Rincon said in a statement.
Detectives believe the suspects are local residents and have been seen fleeing crime scenes in a dark gray, four-door Nissan Altima.
"The suspects may be responsible for several other burglaries in LA and Orange Counties where cigarettes were stolen," Det. Rincon said.
Anyone with information on either of the suspects should contact the Norwalk Sheriff's Station at (562) 86-8711.
