Memorial Service Held For Hollywood Stabbing Victim
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) —A Lynwood woman fatally stabbed at a popular Hollywood attraction was remembered Saturday during a public memorial service.
Pastor Robert Hendricks of New Testament Church presided over the tribute for 23-year-old Christine Calderon. The service at the church at 1941 West Florence Avenue in Los Angeles began at 2 p.m.
Authorities said Calderon was walking outside the Hollywood & Highland entertainment complex on June 18, when a struggle erupted and she was stabbed in the torso.
A police investigation revealed that prior to the stabbing, Calderon and a male friend reportedly took cell phone photos of three men who were holding signs and panhandling.
Those three transients have since been charged in the attack and all pleaded not guilty on June 21.
Dustin James Kinnear, 26, was charged with murder while 33-year-old Jason Joel Wolstone was charged with assault by means likely to produce bodily injury and two counts of accessory after the fact.
Brian Joseph Widdows, 34, has been charged with two counts of accessory after the fact. Police said all three have prior records.
Calderon is survived by her mother and five siblings.
