Probationer Arrested for Stealing Gas at Construction Site
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A Lake Elsinore man unhappy with high gas prices reportedly tried to take fuel without paying for it, authorities said.
David Alan Box, 42, was arrested after a Riverside County sheriff's anti-theft detail allegedly saw him stealing gasoline from a construction site near Railroad Canyon in Menifee.
Deputies observed Box taking the fuel from a fork lift and putting it into a 300-gallon bladder in the back of his pickup truck at 5 a.m. Thursday.
He had been arrested before for doing the same thing and was put on probation, sheriff's Sgt. Tim Elwell said.
Box was taken to the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on suspicion of theft and probation violations.
The suspect posted $5,000 bail and was released hours later.
