President Obama's DNC Speech Sets Twitter Record
STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — President Barack Obama's speech at the Democratic National Convention Thursday set a record for most tweets per minute about a political event.
Twitter reported 52,756 tweets were sent per minute referencing the speech or the DNC.
In contrast, Presidential candidate Mitt Romney's speech at the Republican National Convention on Aug. 30 drove 14,289 tweets per minute, according to Twitter.
The social networking site is also running a Twitter Political Index, a scoring system based off positive and negative responses.
There were 4 million tweets sent referencing the convention Thursday compared to 1.8 million tweets on Election Day in 2008.
First Lady Michelle Obama's speech hit 28,003 tweets per minute at its peak, according to Twitter.
