President Obama To Honor NBA Champion Lakers
WASHINGTON (CBS) — President Barack Obama will honor the Los Angeles Lakers Monday at the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington for their second consecutive NBA championship win.
Laker players, coaches and trainer Gary Vitti will be part of a service project at the club, continuing the Obama administration's practice of conducting a service project in conjunction with honoring a championship team.
The Lakers will present Obama with a gift from the organization. Obama received a personalized No. 1 jersey with his last name on the back in January when the Lakers visited the White House to be honored for winning the 2008-2009 NBA championship.
The Lakers play the Washington Wizards Tuesday, the third stop on their 10-day road trip.
