President Obama Leaves LA, Arrives In Coachella Valley For Asian Summit
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — President Barack Obama may have left Los Angeles Friday, but he won't be leaving Southern California just yet.
The presidents boarded a flight shortly after 10 a.m. from LAX to Palm Springs, where he will host a summit of Asian leaders at Sunnylands resort in Rancho Mirage.
Obama will be joined by Secretary of State John Kerry at Sunnylands for the two-day summit, which starts Monday, of leaders from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. The summit is aimed at strengthening the new U.S.-ASEAN strategic partnership, forged last November during a presidential trip to Malaysia.
A motorcycle officer assigned to the protective services detail that handles travel security for Obama was involved at about 10:20 a.m. in a non-
injury accident on the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway at Olympic Boulevard in West Los Angeles, apparently while escorting the president from Westwood to LAX.

During his 19-hour trip to Los Angeles, the president made an appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," which is set to air Friday, and also made appearances at Los Angeles High School and two political fundraisers in Hancock Park.
Obama has no events scheduled Saturday or Sunday, which suggests weekend golf in the Coachella Valley is a strong possibility for the president.
