President Obama Cancels LA Trip Ahead Of Syria Vote
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — President Barack Obama has canceled a planned trip to Los Angeles scheduled for next week, officials said Friday.
Obama had been scheduled on Sept. 9 to attend a Democratic National Committee fundraiser in Hancock Park and speak at the AFL-CIO convention in downtown Los Angeles.
The White House said Obama canceled the trip in order to focus on upcoming vote on congressional resolution on Syria.
The fundraiser at the home of Marta Kauffman and Michael Skloff had been billed as a roundtable discussion with the
president, with participants spending $32,400 to attend.
The AFL-CIO national convention will begin Sunday and continue through Wednesday at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
