Powerhouse Fire Now 78 Percent Contained
ANTELOPE VALLEY (CBSLA.com) —The Powerhouse fire burning in the Angeles National Forest was 78 percent contained Thursday.
The 30,274-acre fire was sparked on May 30 and has destroyed 24 homes, according to the U.S. Forest Service.
Approximately 1,900 firefighters, 24 bulldozers, 34 water tenders and 15 aircraft are fighting the brush fire.
Forty local departments from the state have assisted on the Powerhouse fire, with numerous other Federal and States resources represented.
State officials estimate it has cost $16 million to fight the Powerhouse Fire.
Full containment is not expected until Monday.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
