Powerful winds blow down trees in multiple SoCal neighborhoods

Powerful winds blew down a large tree in Simi Valley causing damage to a house and part of the sidewalk Tuesday morning.

The 35-40 feet tall tree came down on Cutler Street around 3:45 a.m.

Ventura County firefighters responded after multiple residents in the area along with the homeowner reported hearing a large crash. No injuries were reported.

Another large tree came down in front of an apartment building in Van Nuys near Victory and Balboa Street around 2 a.m.

The tree knocked down powerlines and damaged at least 10 cars parked in the street.

Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters along with officials from the Department of Water and Power responded to the scene to assess the damage. 

Another tree came down in Burbank in the 2800 block of Victory Boulevard around 9 a.m. The Burbank police responded to the scene and reminded residents to stay safe as strong winds move through.

A high wind warning will be in effect in the Santa Clarita and western San Fernando valleys, along with a portion of the San Gabriel Mountains until 4 p.m.

Wind gust could reach as high as 60 miles per hour. High wind warnings will also be in effect Thursday in the Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area, Malibu Coast and San Gabriel Mountains, where gusts of up to 75 miles per hour are possible.
