Powerball Jackpot Soars To $270 Million
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The California Lottery announced Wednesday that no tickets matched all six numbers in the latest Powerball draw.
The jackpot had been $222 million. The numbers chosen were 21, 22, 26, 30 and 57. The Powerball was 27.
There were three $2 million Match 5 Power Play winners, one each in Nebraska, Ohio and Pennsylvania, and one ticket sold in New Jersey had five numbers, but didn't have the Powerball number and is worth $1 million, the Multi-State Lottery Association, which conducts the game, announced.
Lottery officials say the next draw -- Saturday May 11 -- will be at least $270 million.
The game costs $2 to play.
Powerball is played in 43 states, Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Powerball starts at $40 million. The record jackpot reached $588 million in November 2012.
