Posing As Students, Undercover Drug Cops Bust 22 At Temecula High Schools

TEMECULA (CBSLA.com) — Undercover officers busted 22 students from three schools in Temecula, according to officials.

Fifteen students were busted at Temecula Valley High School, two at a continuation school and five at Chapparal High.

Greg Mills, reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9, said the undercover cops posed as students and apparently no one was the wiser.

Mills spoke to Chapparal High student Biana Palacios who said about the arrests, "That's like the talk of the school today. Everybody's talking about it."

Student Ruben Arreguan said, "Three of the five kids were in the same class. And so was the cop, my tech core class."

Mills said the sheriff's deputy posed as a student when the school year started lasted August.

Arreguan never suspected his classmate was in law enforcement. "To me, he was just a regular high school kid."

The school district confirmed to Mills that two officers were posing as students: the male deputy at Chapparal and a female at Temecula Valley.

Among the arrested were 4 girls, 18 boys ... two were adults.  What drugs were involved? Heroin, LSD, Ecstasy, methamphetamines and cocaine.

Mills also spoke to Jeff Stahl, a concerned parent, who was picking up his daughter from school when he heard about the bust.

Was he surprised high school kids were selling coke? Heroin? "From what my daughter told me, I'm not totally surprised. It's really gotten bad."

Stahl also said he was worried that once these arrests blow over, drugs will make a slow return to the campus.
