La Cienega Blvd. Reopens After Roadway Buckles In Baldwin Hills
BALDWIN HILLS (CBSLA.com) — All lanes of La Cienega Boulevard were reopened early Wednesday morning after the roadway buckled, forcing transportation officials to shut down the heavily traveled street.
La Cienega, between Stocker Street and Rodeo Road, reopened just before 4:30 a.m., officials said.
A Los Angeles Police Department officer reported the incident around 9 p.m. Tuesday after the uneven roadway almost caused him to crash his motorcycle.
According to the Department of Water and Power, the damaged street is part of an ongoing problem from a previous water main break that caused the road to crack.
"We had a, what you call a water main blowout here about a month ago," Mike Miller of the DWP said.
Crews have been on the scene since 1 a.m. Wednesday trying to move and replace the asphalt as a temporary fix for the daily commute.
The timeline for a permanent solution has not been made public.
The roadway was fully reopened around 7 a.m.
