Pomona Police Shoot 32-Year-Old Suspect During Bicycle Pursuit

POMONA (CBSLA.com) —  Police in Pomona say they shot a man Saturday night after he pointed a gun at them.

Officers were patrolling the 300 block of East Center Street when they noticed a heated argument going on between the man and another person.

The suspect took off on a bike and ignored officers' commands to stop, according to Pomona police.

The man reportedly continued westbound on Center Street while an officer on foot and several others in a patrol car gave chase.

The suspect turned his bike around, pulled a .357 caliber revolver from his waistband and pointed it at the officer on foot, according to the police report.

Police say the officer responded by shooting the man several times in the upper torso.

The suspect was identified as a 32-year old Pomona resident.

He was taken to a local hospital and listed in stable condition.

No officers were injured.

Police say they recovered a loaded .357 caliber revolver at the scene.
