Boy Fatally Struck By Car While Crossing Pomona Street
POMONA (CBSLA) — A 12-year-old boy has died after he was struck by a car while crossing a street in Pomona.
The boy was rushed to a hospital after the crash at about 8 p.m. on Foothill Boulevard, but later died. He was identified by friends and family as Damian Bonilla.
Investigators say Damian was returning home to the hotel where he lived with his parents and two siblings after visiting a Dollar Tree store across the street.
Damian was "very kind, very happy," neighbor Timothy Perez said. "He was always offering to help my mom."
The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said, and apparently did not see the boy dart into the street.
Police say the driver's view may have been blocked by other cars on the street.
Family, friends, and a pastor of the church across the street have put together a GoFundMe to raise money for Damian's funeral expenses.
