Poll: Christmas Spending To Rise, But Value Key
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A new survey suggests that despite a shaky economic outlook, Americans are expected to still spend their cash on gifts this Christmas season, but shoppers will be looking for a bigger bang for their buck.
Consumer Reports says over 40 percent of U.S. consumers say that discounts are a key factor in which items they plan on buying this season, with one in three expecting to spend less than in previous years.

Perhaps most surprising is that while unemployment remains high and credit still tight, consumers remain relatively cheerful, even as 13.6 million Americans remain saddled with debt from last years' spending.
