Police: 16-Year-Old Boy Arrested In Fatal Stabbing Of West Hills Woman

WEST HILLS (CBSLA.com) — Police say a 16-year-old boy who had been living with a West Hills woman found stabbed to death has been arrested in her murder.

The woman was found in her home in the 7100 block of Shadow Ridge Court between 4:30 and 5 p.m. Tuesday, Los Angeles police Sgt. Greg Houser said. Her name was not immediately released.

"We got the call about an injured woman and responding officers found the victim had suffered multiple stab wounds," Houser said. "Paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene."

The woman was identified as 53-year-old Connie Cajulis, Los Angeles police spokesman Officer Mike Lopez said. Cajulis was a regular volunteer at Calabasas High School and supporter of the school's athletic programs.

The teenage boy had allegedly stolen her car from the home after the stabbing and crashed a short distance from the home, police said. He is now at a hospital, recovering from injuries he sustained in the crash.

The boy is under the watch of officers at the hospital, Lopez said.

Cajulis and teen were not related, but friends said she had taken the boy into her home, possibly after he was expelled from Calabasas High School.

It's not known if a weapon had been recovered, but Lopez did say detectives were not looking for any other suspects.

Anyone with information on the stabbing can call LAPD's Valley Bureau at (818) 644-8000.
