Police Track 1980s Sex Offender After Move Near College Campuses In Fullerton

FULLERTON (CBS) — Residents in Fullerton were on alert Thursday after police warned a convicted sex offender has moved into the neighborhood.

Police circulated community alert fliers with a photo and background information on Antoine Denell Jordan, 50, who police are calling a high-risk sex offender.

KNX 1070's Mike Landa reports Jordan was convicted of kidnapping and sexually assaulting as many as nine women at knifepoint near the University of Southern California campus in the early 1980s.

Police alerted residents that he Jordan had recently moved into a home at 1325 South Jefferson Avenue -- just miles from the campuses of Fullerton College and Cal State Fullerton.

"We have had him under surveillance since we found out about his presence in our city while we were doing our investigation and our risk assessment," said Fullerton police Capt. Alex Bastreri. "We've also met with him, we've had a face to face conversation with him, to advise him that this is our game plan."

Bastreri said the disclosure was not intended to create fair but rather to ensure public safety.

Jordan is currently on parole after serving 22 years in prison.
