Police Seek Person Of Interest In Lake Forest Home Invasion Attack
LAKE FOREST (CBSLA.com) — Police are asking for the public's help locating a person of interest in a Lake Forest home invasion attack.
Detectives want to talk to 57-year-old Jerrel Gower in connection with the incident which occurred around midnight on Wednesday when an unidentified male forced his way into a family home on the 20900 block of Parkside.
The 59-year-old female victim, identified as Marilyn, said her husband and two adult children struggled with the intruder who eventually ran away.
"I was just plowed into. He knocked me to the ground about 5 or 6 feet... and rushed passed me mumbling," she told KNX1070.
Neighbors told KCAL9 they heard yelling before and after the family was attacked.
The suspect reportedly was demanding to be let in the home, had mentioned a doctor's name and said his niece had been the victim of a crime.
The family says he told them to call police as he shouted his name, and said he used to work for Homeland Security.
Two family members, including the older female victim, had to be treated for injuries.
"I have a broken toe and multiple bruises and damage to my back," Marilyn said.
Victim In Lake Forest Home Invasion Speaks Out
Gower, of Mission Viejo, is known to frequent libraries and train stops, according to authorities.
Police say he has a warrant out for his arrest for narcotics.
Officials believe the attack was random. They do not have a motive.
