Police are searching for the hit-and-run driver who got out of his car and ran from the scene of a deadly crash in North Hollywood late Friday evening. 

The crash happened at around 7 p.m. near Victory Boulevard and Beck Avenue, according to Los Angeles Police Department officers. 

A woman in her late 20s was walking across the street in a marked crosswalk, when a Toyota Corolla traveling westbound on Victory struck her, police say. The driver kept going and officers later found the car abandoned along Victory, just east of Troost Avenue. 

Paramedics took her to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her name has not been released.

Police say the man ran from the area on foot after hitting the pedestrian.

Investigators described the suspect as a White man with balding hair and a heavyset build. He is believed to be in his 50s.

SkyCal flew over the spot of the crash, where the windshield and front passenger side of the four-door sedan could be seen with considerable damage. 

LAPD detectives are asking anyone who was near Victory Boulevard and Beck Avenue around 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, to come forward if they know anything.

A standing reward of up to $50,000 is offered to anyone with information that leads to the identification, arrest and conviction of the suspect by the city of Los Angeles.
