High School Student Injured In Altercation On Campus
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities were searching Thursday for a suspect who injured a student at a Los Angeles high school.
Los Angeles police responded to West Adams Preparatory High School, 1500 W. Washington Blvd., around 8:50 a.m.
A female student, who is reportedly a junior or senior, suffered cuts from a sharp object during an altercation with the suspect, who police say does not attend the school.
"Crisis counselors are on campus and the LAPD and LA School Police have beefed up security to ensure campus safety," Gayle Pollard-Terry of the LAUSD said in a statement. "The safety of our students and staff are of utmost priority on all of our campuses."
The student was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The school was put on temporary lockdown while police searched for the suspect, who was not located.
Officials believe the suspect is between the ages of 18 and 22. No further suspect description was given.
