Police Search For Highland Park Hit-And-Run Suspect
HIGHLAND PARK (CBSLA.com) — A woman is in critical condition Saturday morning after being struck by a hit-and-run driver on Friday night in Highland Park.
Authorities said the woman was crossing the street on the 5500 block of North Figueroa Street shortly before 10 p.m. when she was stuck by a man driving a white, four-door Mitsubishi Lancer.
The woman was said to have been carried 50 feet on the hood of the car before she fell off.
After the crash, witnesses said the driver got out of his car and removed his license plates before driving away from the scene.
Authorities closed down Figueroa Street for a few hours Friday night as they investigated.
The woman, who is between 35 and 40 years old, was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.
Police on Sunday morning were looking for a suspect they described as a Hispanic man in his 40s, about 5 feet tall, wearing a light blue tank top and blue jeans. His white sedan has a broken windshield, police said.
The LAPD was asking the public for help identifying the suspect.
