Authorities Have Arrested The Suspect In Carson Shooting That Killed One
CARSON (CBSLA) - Local authorities responded to the scene of a shooting in Carson at the 21600 block of South Figueroa Street on Friday evening.
Deputy Alejandra Parra of the Sheriff's Information Bureau reported that the shooting happened at approximately 4:30PM.
A man was shot and mortally wounded at the scene. He later died at a nearby hospital. The victim, 55, was reportedly involved in a confrontation of some sort prior to the shooting, along with one other person.
Police have the suspect in custody, as he was arrested in the shopping center; the weapon was also recovered at the scene.
Parra reported that, "a deputy patrolling Carson was stopped for a red light at the intersection of Carson Street and South Figueroa Street when his attention was drawn by the sound of shouting to the retail center on the northeast corner of the intersection."
The deputy saw a man pointing a handgun at an unseen target from where he was standing. The man with the handgun fired approximately six or seven rounds before running north into the retail center.
Deputies were able to quickly contain the scene, when they learned there was a second victim. That person was not injured.
