Police are seeking help from the public in identifying the driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash that happened in the Westlake area in early-December.

It happened at around 11 p.m. in an alley west of Westlake Avenue and north of Wilshire Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

"A silver Nissan Sentra, possibly between the years 2007-12, was traveling southbound in the alley when it collided into the pedestrian," said LAPD's statement. "The driver of the Nissan Sentra failed to stop, identify themselves, or render aid, as required by law."

The pedestrian, still unidentified, was taken to a nearby hospital where they were later pronounced dead.

In hopes of locating the driver, police have released surveillance footage of the car driving down the alley the night of the crash.

A standing reward of $50,000 has been offered by the city of Los Angeles for information that leads to the identification, arrest and conviction of the driver.

Anyone who knows more is asked to contact police at (213) 833-3713.
