Police Pursuits, Downtown Skyline Dominate LEGO Replica Of Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Even in LEGO Los Angeles, police pursuits are seemingly always just around the corner.
A LEGO city inspired by downtown L.A. has been an ongoing project for 23-year-old Jorge Parra Jr. over the last eight years, according to Los Angeles Magazine.
In addition to the detailed skyline - which features spot-on replica toy brick versions of City Hall, the U.S. Bank Tower, and Wilshire Grand Center - Parra's model city also has a number of only-in-L.A. details, including a Hollywood film production, a mariachi band and even an In-N-Out drive-through restaurant.
There's also the LAX theme building, various font-perfect billboards with Coca-Cola and Hollywood Bowl ads, and a working Metro train.
But it's Parra's inclusion of two separate police pursuits that may be the most authentic element of the layout, including one captioned on Instagram, "LAPD takes a Code 37 suspect into custody following a wild pursuit".
The second pursuit scene shows a suspect standing outside of his vehicle with his hands in the air as LEGO police officers surround him with their weapons drawn.
