Bank Robber Shot, Hostage Uninjured After 4-Hour StandOff In Buena Park
BUENA PARK (CBS) — A armed robbery suspect was shot and wounded by an Orange County SWAT team Thursday following a four-hour hostage standoff with police, officials said.
An unidentified armed suspect was shot just after 3 p.m., according to Buena Park police Cpl. Andy Loung.
The standoff began when authorities received a call about a bank robbery in progress inside Saehan Bank in the 4500 block of Beach Boulevard around 11:06 a.m., Buena Park police said.
Police say a man with an unspecified firearm entered the bank and asked for the bank branch manager.
Customers and other bank employees who were inside the bank when the gunman entered were allowed to leave, Loung said. Police were unable to make contact with the suspect for several hours until they made entry, shot him and took him into custody around 3 p.m., Loung said.
The condition of the suspect was not released, but he was treated on scene. Authorities say the female hostage is safe and uninjured.
