Police: Meat Market Owner Fatally Shoots Armed Robber
GARDENA (CBS) — Gardena police said a meat market owner has fatally shot a man who tried to rob him for a second time in two months, it was reported Saturday.
The shooting outside Paisano's Market on W. Rosecrans Avenue occurred about 6:30 a.m. Friday, Gardena police said. The name of the 24-year-old suspect was unavailable early Saturday.
Gardena police Detective Rich Reynaga told the Daily Breeze the same man was believed to have robbed Paisano's of $2,300 on July 20.
"He saw -- in his camera -- a figure walking toward the business. He noticed the walk of the subject was similar to the walk of the man who robbed him in July," Reynaga said.
"The suspect raises his gun, and the owner shoots him," he added. "He takes off running, and the owner chases after him and shot three more times."
Reynaga said an apparent bystander outside the market was also shot, but is expected to survive.
