Police Look For Mystery Driver Who May Have Been Involved In OC Crash That Killed 2
LAGUNA BEACH (CBSLA.com) — Police Tuesday are looking for a mystery driver who may have been involved in a crash that killed two men in Laguna Beach.
The collision between a Tesla electric vehicle and a Honda Accord happened around 6:40 a.m. on Laguna Canyon Road between El Toro Road and state Route 73.
"The Tesla was outbound on Laguna Canyon Road and went head-on with the Honda Accord going southbound," said Lt. Jeff Calvert of the Laguna Beach Police Department.
Two men in the Honda were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Tesla had plates registered to Dr. Robert Pettis, a Laguna Beach ear, nose and throat specialist. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Detectives believe another car may have played a role in the crash.
"At this stage, it looks like a third vehicle was involved, but we don't know the level of involvement," said Calvert.
