LAPD pursuit of domestic violence suspect ends in shots fired in West Adams
A Los Angeles Police Department-led pursuit of an alleged domestic violence suspect ended in the West Adams area after he shot at police.
Aerial footage captured the incident, showing the suspect down, and police officers detaining people at the site.
The entire ordeal started in San Pedro when officers received a call about a man driving a white Maserati tailing an LA DASH bus after his alleged assault victim hopped on it.
The suspect began his erratic evasion of police shortly after. He dangerously tried to lose the pursuing officers, running red lights and driving the wrong way through Inglewood streets.
Speeds of the chase stayed relatively at the speed limit range, moving northbound on La Brea Avenue. At one point in the chase at Stocker Street, a bicyclist quickly got out of the suspect driver's way, as he weaved closely to the sidewalk.
After parking behind the multi-unit building, the suspect walked into a West Adams building. Officers arrived shortly after and encountered the suspect in the driveway.
"The officers had just approached, they had been in tracking mode, the front of the residence," Police Chief Jim McDonnell said. "Pulled out two guns, one in each hand and opened fire on the officers."
Officers returned fire and struck the suspect. A bystander suffered a non-life-threatening wound in the crossfire.
Paramedics took the suspect and bystander to the hospital.
