Police Identify Woman Killed In Rollover Crash Off 710 Freeway In Long Beach
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Authorities identified a woman killed in a crash when her car veered off the 710 Freeway and rolled onto railroad tracks.
The accident took place at 11 p.m. on Monday when a dark-colored vehicle heading southbound careened off the freeway just south of Long Beach Boulevard near Del Amo Boulevard.
Abel Israel Gutierrez, 20, and their daughter, 2-month-old Sophia Gutierrez, were pronounced dead at the scene. Emily Jimenez, 19, was taken to a hospital, where she later passed away.
It took firefighters 25 minutes to reach the victims because their car had been so badly damage.
According to the CHP, Jimenez was driving the 2001 Ford Explorer, when "for unknown reasons, (she) lost control ... and made an unsafe turning movement to the right," and the SUV veered off of the roadway and crashed.
The crash prompted the temporary closure of two southbound freeway lanes for a time, the CHP reported.
