Police: Garden Grove Stabbing Victim May Be Estranged Wife
GARDEN GROVE (CBSLA.com) — A Garden Grove man faced an attempted murder charge Wednesday after he allegedly stabbed a woman - who may possibly be his estranged wife - in the neck.
Tai Trieu, 54, was taken into custody Wednesday as part of an investigation into a stabbing at the intersection of Beach and Garden Grove Blvd. on July 7, according to Garden Grove Police.
Officers arrived at the scene around 3:52 p.m. and found a 41-year-old female victim with a stab wound to her neck, police said. Several passing motorists had witnessed the incident and stopped to render aid until emergency personnel arrived.
Trieu, who witnesses said appeared to be transient, fled the area on a bicycle and was last seen riding west on Garden Grove Blvd from Beach, police said.
During the investigation, officers learned that Trieu was possibly the estranged husband of the victim, according to police.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery. She is expected to survive her injuries.
Trieu was taken into custody after being detained by family members of the victim who saw him loitering near the corner of Euclid and Westminster Avenue, police said.
Trieu was later booked into the Orange County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder.
